Can I wear my piece in the water?
It is up to you! Before you decide on whether you want to or not, read below:
Delicates Collection:
If you wear the gold or silver pieces in the water you will start to see the gold/silver beads slowly fade overtime and also the gold-filled hardware will last longer in terms of the gold colour (decades) if not worn in the water (see answer to question below to see why)... As for the Seaglass, Red and Seafoam pieces, do not wear these in the water because the beads will fade overtime and look best bright and colourful.
Earrings:
The sterling silver pieces can be confidently worn in the water. The gold on the gold-plated sterling silver earrings if worn in the water will fade overtime. The glass beads will not fade in the water but the small coloured beads may fade.
Hand-Woven Pieces:
Do not wear these in the water and store out of sunlight in a cool dry place when not wearing.
****To keep pieces looking their best, store them out of sunlight in a cool and dry place- this will keep the beads bright. Also try to keep them away from any creams and don’t spray ya perfume on them, they don’t like that!!****
What hardware do you use?
Our hardware is made of either sterling silver, gold-filled or gunmetal.
Sterling Silver:
Can be worn in the water. To keep it looking its best, store out of sunlight.
Gold-Filled:
I’m sure we’ve all had a piece of jewellery that we’ve loved but because the thin plating of gold has worn off it’s had to be left it in a sad little place never to be worn again. So I chose to finish my pieces with a material that will withstand the wear and tear much better: gold-filled hardware instead of gold plated. This is because gold-filled has 100x more gold alloy than in gold plated jewellery. Therefore the gold on the gold-filled jewellery has many more layers, is much thicker and lasts much longer. I would still recommend keeping the gold-filled finished pieces away from the water as the gold will very very slowly (over years) start to fade - and more importantly your metallic beads on the piece will slowly start to fade too. If kept out of water and looked after (no perfume or creams), the gold layers and therefore gold colour can last decades! :o
How long does it take to make a hand-weaved choker?
Approx 5 hours at the very least for the thick ones and around 4 for the thinner versions - not for the faint hearted!! The process takes a lot of time, patience and focus (and admittedly some mindless Netflix show in the background) but these beauties are (in my opinion) so very much worth the effort. Due to this lengthly process, they are made to order so can take up to 2 weeks MAX to ship. But if you are wanting your order on a specific or sooner date, please don’t hesitate to message me through the contact form - linked here or email me [email protected] :)
Where do you get your beads from?
I get this question a tonne and the answer is MANY various places all over the world and unfortunately I can not provide the specific details such as the websties for where I source my beads. This information has been acquired through many years of research and trial & error so to give this up would be to give you years of hard work on my business model. But thank you for your keen interest in my products <3
Customs?
